Read the damage, then ask a better question
Select a death in the event feed. The recap separates hero damage from other sources and names the largest hero hits. In the example, Ivy took 4,040 damage from enemy heroes before Wraith's kill at 38:24. Ask when escape became unlikely, not just which hit finished the hero.

Rewind to the position
Seek to ten or twenty seconds before the death. Follow the victim on the minimap and watch where allies and enemies move. Was the hero separated before the damage began? Did teammates arrive after the first burst? Use the timeline to compare the approach and the exit; a death marker alone cannot answer either question.

Separate build choices from execution
Open Damage by source to see which abilities, weapons or items dealt damage across the match. Then check the purchase-order view at the death's timestamp; final inventory can contain items bought much later. Per-hit messages round damage, so the source totals can sit slightly above the final scoreboard counter.
